80’ties – Young and colourful Killi Olsen

Kjell Erik Killi Olsen is one of the more famous contemporary artists from Norway. These are some pictures from the early days, probably from 1985. He rented part of a big warehouse on the pier (ei brygge) in his hometown Trondheim to work there.

Killi Olsen was educated at Kunstskolen i Trondheim, Akademia Sztuk Pięknych in Poland and at Statens Kunstakademi in Oslo during the period 1972–1981. There have been many exhibitions and retrospectives in Norway, and also exhibitions in other parts of the world, like New York and Sao Paulo. One of his first major shows was in Brazil, that is the 72 scultors of Salamandernatten made for the biennale in 1989.

Some more info on Killi Olsen, in fineart.no (in norwegian). Here is a link to these photos and more of them, in my web-gallery.

These pictures are obviously not black and white, but scan from old slides.

  1. i’m very happy to know the works of this artist. He has an original vision of world and nature. I’m very interested in contemporary art, and i hope to build soon a web site like an art gallery.
