Just a few weeks ago it was 3 degrees and rain and hail pouring down. Now we have had 30 somethin degrees for days, and it is going to stay that way for some time. At the time warmer than Mumbai and mexico City, that is very unusual for the central part of Norway. It is SO warm, but I am not complaining. I just have to think 3 weeks back, going to a music festival, it has a cooling effect.

The thing about Norway, especially where I live or up north, you never know how the weather will be: be prepared for everything, because it can change many times during a day. Not so this year, at least we had a lot of real summer untill now. It is great, but it also means I don’t get enough time to do all the photography I would like to.

I especially like going to the forest, or other places where different plants are growing. And moss and mushrooms. There are not many mushrooms yet, but the Red Banded Polypore (Fomitopsis pinicola) below is to be admired.

So the days are flying, and I have to enjoy summer as long as it lasts, like sticking my nose to the roses of the old, Norwegian kind to feel the scent. We call this one hurdalsrosen, the rose from Hurdal. Have a nice summer, everyone! (And nice winter in Australia). By the way, the editor for making post have changed a lot, so I hope I am getting this right…

  3. Soon after have had a typhoon who gave 70 m par second wind, Japan is having as high as 38 degree hot weather.
    (Thanks goodness I’m in England.) Still, I couldn’t believe, now the day-time is getting shorter !

    1. No, don’t remind me on the day-time, Yoshi. But at least I can still read the newspaper outside until 11 at night. Inside is too hot. 😉 Typhoon is bad, I have never experienced it, and I feel sorry for those that do, and also 38 degrees. England sounds good.

  5. You sound so much like a Canadian Bente. We are feeling exactly the same way. Nearly two weeks of high 20’s weather, with virtually no thunderstorms, has us dancing in the streets. Lovely images!

  10. Rain always seems to cause havoc at a certain music festival we have around this time of year in the UK too Bente ,,, sometimes we hear more about the mud and mayhem than the actual bands and music … which may or may not be a good thing 😉
    Enjoy your Summer it is all too short I find . That banded mushroom is rather striking, I wonder if it is a case of red for danger and it’s to be left well alone .
    The delicate colour of your little secretive rose makes me think of pink sugar mice 🙂

    1. Pink sugar mice, that is still to be experienced, but they are probably nice ones? We hear more about the mud and the mayhem to, at least the newspapers are happy when that happen. But the people actually seemed to enjoy the festival anyway. Even those that only stayed in their tent.. Thanks, Poppy.

  13. Summer in a cooler country such as Norway must surely be a treat. Not so much here in the desert Southwest in the US. But our rainy season has finally begin and temperatures have gone from miserably hot to quite comfortable. Mornings are even chilly!
    I LOVE those mushrooms!

    1. I must admit that often when I see all those nice blog-photos from deserts and other warm places around the world, I might long to go there. But not right now. I often get surprised when I read blogs and see people on different continent experience some of the same or similar weather, landscapes and even flowers, at the same time.   19. Beautiful flower photos as usual. Summer’s crazy this year. We have such mixed weather at the moment and the area of France where I used to live hasn’t had many days at 30 degrees at all. Normally it’s the norm at this time of year. All very odd, and a puzzle for wildlife.

  21. We’ve had very hot weather over here too. Last Friday in the afternoon we had a sudden fierce hailstorm, but only locally. Friends I saw that evening told me it hadn’t even rained where they live. And one had not a drop where her business is, but when she got home everything, even a room in the house was wet. She hadn’t thought of closing the windows before she left.
    I made a short video of the hail, but when I looked it back I saw it was sideways somehow and I don’t know how to get it the right side up. So I didn’t post it.

  22. Stunning photos Bente, the weather in the Netherlands is up and down, this week onze 27 degrees and now 19, in some parts it was very bad weather with rain, hail and storm. In the North were I live it was calm. After all your photos with a lot of snow it’s nice to have warm weather but not so warm 😉

    1. I hope to squeeze in a bit more too. By the way, you are the first who have noticed the change to my site, Madhu. It is a disaster. The pictures the size of stamps. I didn’t do anything, but my editor looks very different suddenly with so few options, and the result is devastating. What to do? I want to go out photographying, not spending time figuring this out. Is it only me who have this change?
